AI Proactive Behaviour

Proactive Clarification is a built-in behaviour that helps the AI representative stay helpful during real conversations.

Privas AI may send a short follow-up message after an answer when additional context or guidance could improve the conversation.

This follow-up is designed to improve clarity, reduce confusion, and keep the conversation productive.


How Proactive Clarification Works

In some situations, a visitor message may lack enough context or fall outside the assistant’s knowledge sources.

When this happens, the assistant may respond in two parts:

  1. A direct answer based on available knowledge
  2. A short follow-up message that clarifies the visitor’s intent or offers the next helpful step

Visitors can ignore these messages and continue chatting normally.


Active Behaviours

Privas AI currently uses three proactive behaviours that improve conversation quality.


Behaviour 1: Clarify when the question is outside the domain

If a visitor asks about something that is not related to the domain’s knowledge, the assistant will explain that the topic is outside its scope and guide the visitor back to relevant topics.

This prevents the assistant from generating misleading answers.

Clarify when no strong context

This behaviour keeps the assistant aligned with the website’s knowledge scope.


Behaviour 2: Ask for an optional email follow-up

During longer conversations, the assistant may ask visitors if they would like to share their email address.

This allows the assistant to send:

• a summary of the conversation
• follow-up materials
• helpful information after the chat ends

Sharing an email is always optional.

The assistant stores the email for follow-up purposes while keeping the interaction simple and transparent.


Behaviour 3: Provide helpful guidance during the conversation

Occasionally, the assistant may send a short message that helps visitors understand what they can ask.

These messages may include suggestions such as:

• topics the assistant can explain
• questions visitors usually ask
• next steps related to the website

These prompts help keep conversations productive without interrupting the visitor.
