AI Identity Awareness

Define who your assistant represents

By aninditoUpdated 14 Mar 2026

how your AI should present itself when answering visitors.

AI Identity allows your assistant to behave as a representative of your organization, not a generic chatbot.

When configured correctly, the assistant can clearly explain:

  • what your company does
  • what services or products you offer
  • how your solution works
  • how visitors can get help

This helps visitors receive answers that sound like they are coming from your organization.

Why this matters

Most chatbots answer questions like a general AI assistant.

Privas AI works differently.

Your assistant acts as a website representative that speaks on behalf of your organization.

AI Identity tells the assistant:

  • who it represents
  • what role it plays
  • what scope of questions it should answer

This ensures answers stay consistent with your organization.

For example, instead of saying:

“I am an AI assistant.”

The assistant may answer:

“Privas AI is a platform that helps organizations deploy an AI website representative to handle website conversations.”

This creates a more natural experience for visitors.

Where to configure AI Identity

You can configure AI Identity in your domain settings.

Open:

Domain Dashboard → AI Identity

AI Awareness Configuration

There you will find three fields:

  • Organization to Represent
  • Assistant Role
  • Identity Scope

Organization to Represent

This field defines which organization the assistant represents.

Example:

Privas AI

For company websites, this is usually your:

  • company name
  • product name
  • service brand

The assistant will use this identity when answering questions such as:

  • “What is your company?”
  • “What does this platform do?”

Assistant Role

This field defines how the assistant should present itself.

Example:

AI Representative

Other examples:

  • AI Assistant
  • Customer Support Assistant
  • Product Guide
  • Website Representative

This helps the assistant communicate in the right tone when interacting with visitors.

Identity Scope (Optional)

Identity Scope describes what the assistant is allowed to represent.

Example:

You speak on behalf of Privas AI when answering visitor questions about its services, capabilities, support, features, and how it helps organizations handle website conversations.

This helps the assistant understand:

  • what types of questions it should answer
  • what topics belong to the organization
  • how to frame explanations

Think of this field as a short description of the assistant’s responsibility.

Example configuration

Example setup for a product website:

Organization to Represent

Privas AI

Assistant Role

AI Representative

Identity Scope

You speak on behalf of Privas AI when answering visitor questions about its services, capabilities, features, and how it helps organizations manage website conversations.

With this configuration, the assistant will explain the product in a way that reflects your organization.

How AI Identity affects conversations

Once AI Identity is configured, the assistant can naturally answer questions like:

  • What is this product?
  • What does your company do?
  • What can you help with?
  • How does this work?

The assistant uses your knowledge sources together with the identity settings to generate responses.

This ensures answers are:

  • grounded in your knowledge
  • aligned with your organization
  • easy for visitors to understand

Tips for writing a good AI Identity

Keep the identity description simple.

Good practices:

• use your official product or company name
• describe what the assistant represents
• keep the scope clear and concise

Avoid long marketing descriptions.

The goal is to help the assistant represent your organization accurately.
